The Duchess of Malfi (Nov.'05)
by John Webster
Directed by Dave Hill, Crescent Theatre Birmingham, November 2005
The widowed Duchess, ordered by her brothers to remain chaste and unmarried, secretly woos and marries, but there is a spy in her household, and so begins a journey of love, lust, revenge, intrigue and madness.
I auditioned and was cast as the lustfull and ever maddening “Ferdinand” . This was my first attempt at heightened language and was an incredible character as a debut to classical text. I revelled in this part and my experience as a psychiatric nurse was invaluable when developing this character.
